Party in the street! Join us for a festive farewell to this iconic structure & to celebrate what’s to come! Art activities for all ages, live music, food & beverage, vendor fair, and more, all in the heart of Wasena Village! We are pleased to welcome AFOG Brewing, P.A. Short, and SOLACOUSTIX to the Wasena Bridge Bonanza festivities! FAQs for the Bonanza 

  • Street Closures: The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic, along with the 1100 block of Main Street, the 800 block of Winona, and Little Main from 10am to 10pm for event set-up and breakdown. Please plan your travel accordingly. We encourage walking and biking to the Bonanza. The Wasena Village is easily accessible from the greenway! Roanoke Mountain Adventures will be hosting a free bike valet at their “Greenway Spot” at Winona Ave & 8th St.  
  • Parking: We encourage guests to walk, bike, use public transportation, or carpool to the Bonanza. Parking options may include the Wasena Park parking lots accessible from Winchester Ave, street side parking along Wiley drive, and neighborhood on-street parking.

Bonanza Schedule and Activities 

3 pm: Bridge Bonanza Kick Off! 

  • Vendor fair 
  • Food & beverage sales 
  • FREE face painting 
  • FREE bike valet at Roanoke Mountain Adventures “Greenway Spot” @ Winona & 8th St. 

3 – 6:30 pm: DJ Flex 

3:30 pm: “Make Your Mark” (until 6:30 pm or as long as supplies last, see details below) 

4 – 6 pm: Local artist “Jason Long” acoustic set @ Winona & 8th St. 

5 pm: Bridge Proclamation presented by Joe Cobb 

6:30 – 8 pm: Solacoustix 

There will also be other exciting activities occurring throughout the afternoon!  

Make Your Mark – is a once in a lifetime opportunity to color the Wasena Bridge and literally “Make Your Mark.” We will have spray and traditional sidewalk chalk available for you to color the vertical concrete portions of the bridge and add your creative energy to what will undoubtedly be the coolest chalk activity this bridge will ever encounter!  

A note to parents: Please supervise children. The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic, but open to bicycles and pedestrians. Beverages will be allowed on the bridge during this activity from 3:30 to 6:30pm. Activity available as long as supplies last. 

Arts Connects Neighbors Activity – We are so excited to be hosting our first Arts Connects Neighbors activity during the Bonanza. If you are unfamiliar with this program, please check it out at roanokearts.org.  

Neighborhood Sounds: A Talking Time Capsule of Your Community welcomes audio artists from Pramana Language Labs to immerse themselves (and their recording equipment) into your community to create a fully mastered audio production to be shared with current and future generations. Face Painting with April Rose: Face-painting is the perfect addition to any event, from school festivals to birthday parties to church events! The focus will always be on the children, but adults are more than welcome to have their faces painted, always! April will come with a variety of face-paint options and all the face paint supplies she will need to make your party the talk of the town! 

Wasena Logo Coloring Activity – Sit down for a few minutes and color! Our beloved “stained-glass-esque” logo is like a page out of your favorite coloring book. We’ll have colored pencils and crayons for you and your family to use at one of the picnic tables in the village!
