Free Electronics Recycling Event

The City of Roanoke is hosting a free, drive-through Electronics Recycling Collection event on Saturday, November 18 from 9 AM – 12 PM at Berglund Center. 

Acceptable Materials for Electronic Waste Recycling

Items that can be plugged into an electrical socket or have held a battery charge are eligible for Electronic Waste Recycle

WNF October Neighborhood Meeting

Hello Wasena!

Please join us this Thursday, October 5th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Wasena Park Brick Picnic Shelter. This is the building closest to the playground and parking lot on the Vic Thomas end.

We will welcome guests from the City of Roanoke and be discussing Wasena Weekend details! New event details just posted at www.wasena.org.

Trevor Shannon, Battalion Chief from the City of Roanoke’s Emergency Management Team will visit with us. Also, we welcome Justina Megginson from the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office to share about how one would start a new business in the city of Roanoke!

NEW this year, the Wasena Weekend Patron Challenge!

One of the goals of Wasena Weekend is to encourage folks to visit and support our wonderful small businesses.

Here’s how to play:

Starting anytime time on Friday the 6th and ending Sunday the 8th at 1pm.

Make a purchase at any 4 different Wasena businesses. Keep your receipts. Show us at the Wasena booth.

You’ll be entered into a special drawing for a $100 Visa gift card you can use to make future purchases at Wasena businesses. This can include food and beverage, retail items, services, and more! The combinations are almost limitless!

Neighborhood Meeting – WNF

Hello Wasena!

Please join us for the first WNF meeting of 2025! This will take place Thursday, February 6th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the City Light Church located at 1511 Maiden Lane SW (yes, with the “Jesus Saves” sign).

We’ll be joined by the City of Roanoke’s Real Estate Valuation team who will share information on several topics relating to property assessments. Please note that our meeting will fall just AFTER the deadline to submit an appeal of assessment. Please visit  https://www.roanokeva.gov/2731/Appeals-Board-of-Equalization before the February 5th deadline should you wish to submit an appeal.

We’ll also have updates on the bridge, the in-river park, and the skatepark as well as discussing upcoming elections for the WNF board.
